Rest in Peace Ka-bar (1960 - 2008)
We are very sad to learn that our friend, chanop, helper, techguy and overall fellow geek is no longer amongst us. Our hearts go out to the family of Kevin McBride, amongst us better known as Ka-bar. Anyone who wishes to give his/her condolences please visit his memorial website.
Welcome to the NekoNet IRC Network
The NekoNet IRC network is a small band of IRC servers who's admins share a common love and interest for IRC (Internet Relay Chat). The network has been small up to now but recently we decided to try and promote the network more actively. We're trying to run a fair, but strict, network where everyone can have some fun with chatting and basicly doing the things they like.
Then there's this wiki which we're using for support, information and hopefully providing the users with some fun. Regular visitors may notice a change on the website; we have moved from tikiwiki to mediawiki because we feel that this reflects the ideas behind the network the most: lightweight, open for all and relatively easy to use. A wiki simply reflects the whole idea behind our network the best. This basicly boils down to trying to provide a service which will hopefully be enjoyed and maintained by a (growing) amount of people while focussing on quality over quantity.
What can be found on the network
Our network profiles itself by a growing amount of technical people and a strict policy on the behaviour of the opers. Most of us have a big interest in computers and are trying to do lots of different things on many different platforms. Varying from setting up Linux as a mediabox to hooking up several computers into a major VPN. Next to all that we have set out a strict policy for our opers as to what is and is not allowed. We're a serious network, not a bunch of kids playing oper. On NekoNet the interest of the user comes first.
So what about the site?
The website is still in a 'settleing' stage. We ended up being quite unhappy with the previous one and such moved to this wiki environment. This means that some contents still has to be moved over, and some new contents has to be added. All in all this website can already provide you with all the information from the previous one, and this time its bound to grow. Please feel free to join in on our efforts if you'd like. You're free to expand the website by creating your own pages or by participating in the discussions about them.
